Road Racing with Cascade and ICSCC
Cascade Sports Car Club is a member of the International Conference of Sports Car Clubs. ICSCC sanctions auto racing events in Northwest Oregon, Washington, and British Columbia, Canada. Cascade’s events are held at Portland International Raceway beginning in the spring with our Rose City Opener and wrapping up in the fall with our Annual Enduro.

What kind of car should I race?
This depends on personal preference. Some racers turn their street car into a race car. Some racers have a car in mind that sounds fun to race which they purchase and then modify into a race car. Some competitors prefer purpose built open cockpit or open wheel race cars. Many prefer to find a race ready car and purchase it. As a general rule, most any car can be made into a race car and there is a class for it to race in. See our Quick Guide to ICSCC Classes for more information.
Can I rent a race car?
Yes. In fact, some people rent different cars before they decide on the class and car they like. Some know right off what they want to race and bypass the renting route altogether, whereas some only rent and never buy one. Weekend rental rates are typically $1000 to $3000.
How much do race cars cost?
The average price range is $5,000 – $20,000, but can be significantly higher depending on the type of car you choose.
Average Costs: Roll Cage – $3,000; Seat, harness, net, fire bottle – under $1,000; Timing transponder – $600.
Driver’s safety gear: Helmet, HANS (Head and Neck Restraint System), balaclava, fire/race suit, racing gloves, racing shoes and socks. – starts at under $1500.
How old do I need to be to race?
You must be at least 16 years old and possess a valid driver’s license to race with ICSCC.

How much does it cost to race?
Costs vary greatly depending on whether or not you own your own race car, truck, trailer, etc. Entry fees typically start at around $350 for the race weekend. Additional costs to keep in mind are fuel, tires, parts, storage, rental fees, etc.
